Okay, this is the Public Service Section. Basically, this is where I'm going to rant about things people absolutely, positively have to see, read, or play. I'll probably also rant about things that people should under no circumstances come into contact with.

Movies

Labyrinth
Everyone, at some point, has to watch this at some point to classify as human. Seriously. I mean it. I've taped people to chairs and forced them to watch this movie. It's fantasy, of course, and I do understand that that's not exactly everyone's thing. But the sets are beautiful, and the Jim Henson Creature Shop was involved in making some (well, okay, most) of the characters. The only disadvantage is that there is a rather... up close and personal shot of David Bowie's crotch, but it's only for a few seconds.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show
Yeah, this is probably THE cult classic movie. It's not for the weak minded, but it's worth it. If you can go see it in a theater where they're doing it or get a big group together to do the audience participation bits, it's even better. It's one of those movies you can watch pleasantly drunk or slightly high without it losing anything. If you can stand Tim Curry in women's underwear, don't miss it. Assuming that there actually exist people who haven't seen it yet.

The Nightmare Before Christmas
Yes, it's Disney. Yes, it's claymation. Watch it anyway. As many times as possible.

Ghostbusters
I'd make a comment about how I think that everyone's already seen it, but then, I was very slow getting to see it myself. But it is of the awesome. An odd combination of kinda scary and freaking hilarious. The second one is good too, but the first one is better.

Uzamaki
If you're into scary movies and/or Japanese movies, watch this. It scared the hell out of me, and it'll mess with your head. But it rocks so much... No blood. None at all. Absolutely terrifying. Don't watch it late at night, in the dark, when sleep deprived, unless you *like* having slight hallucinations based on it.

Anything By Studio Ghibli/Hayao Miazaki
If you like anime, and you haven't watched at least some of these movies, there is absolutely no excuse. Princess Mononoke, Castle in the Sky, Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away, Kiki's Delivery Service, Nausicaa... They're all very good, and I'm sure I'm missing some titles. They're the sort of movie that you can enjoy no matter what age you are. All of them have some sort of moral and/or ecological message, but they do it without being sappy. Fairy tales without being trite, stupid, or insulting your intelligence.

More to come, surely...
